Desert Bar Feb. 24th

 One of the places we wanted to check out while in Quartzsite was the Desert Bar ( Nellie E ) It is located just past Parker to the north of our location. Going up this very rough road we spot this sign.

Dang, it is Friday, oh well, lets check it out anyway. Just before the bar, they have the road closed off but there is a spot to look at the area. Here are a couple of photos.



We did go to dinner with Dave and Sheila, a Chinese dinner in Parker. It was pretty good, enough for two meals.

We BLMed for a five days, then went to Park Place RV for three nights so we could catch up on laundry.

We are now just outside of Florence at a flying field that is hosting the Pattern contest. We will hang out with John and Rex for a few days then start our way home. We're hoping the roads won't be too bad or we might need to hunker down somewhere for a few days til they clear.

Back to wind the last couple of days, nice today though. Cold last night, with a low of 3C and only 8C at noon. All the mountain around here are covered with snow. The forecast for the contest is favorable, I hope they are right. Rex and John are expecting 33 pilots, a very good turn out. I will post about that as it happens.

 Finally some sun. Happy New Year, the photo was yesterday, today is just as nice. This space was open, so we decided to stay for another day and enjoy the sun.  Backing up a bit, when we arrived at Bullards Beach there were some wild turkeys in the park. Looked for them the rest of our stay but didn't see them. Sure enough, they were by the exit on our way out. It was off and on rain for the drive to Harris Beach. I did brave the elements and took a couple of pictures on our way down. As you can see, a little dark and gloomy and slightly wet.   New Years eve day weather was spectacular, we took a walk across the road to a view point, found a cache and I took these photos. Then we drove back up the coast a few miles and checked out Samuel H Boardman State Scenic Corridor. It is a 15 mile state park stretching along the waterfront north of Brookings.  After staying in Seaquest St Pk. for two nights, we got caught up on food etc. Then off too Cape Disappointment St. Pk. Sun the first night here. Just been hanging out with Ryan and family, we have managed to have a couple of campfires. Pouring rain today, so we took a drive to Tillamook, now are stocked up with cheese. I am sitting in the truck, with the rain coming down, while Pat is in Fred Meyers. Slow cell, but at least there is some. Pat made this Xmas tree and I made the ornaments. We are now set for Xmas. I will try to update before Xmas.

Needles Jan 9th

 The drive from Red Rock Canyon is about three hours, just about right, these days I like the shorted travel times. It has taken a long time to learn to slow down and take our time. As there is not much for shopping around Red Rock, we needed some supplies. We headed down to Lake Havasu to check out our spot for the balloon festival and stop at Walmart. The balloons will be at the State Park, so we drove up to the gate and asked if we could go in and check out where we were going to park. Sure but it would cost us $15.00 to enter the grounds. No thanks, we will figure it out when the time comes.  Nice to see the sun and Palm trees. Fuel in California is around $6.99 a gallon, I paid $4.339 in Arizona. Not sure why people go to the stations here, as cheaper fuel is just across the river.  Next day, Jan 11th. we drove up to Oatman, home of the wild Burrows.
