Painted Canyon Feb. 1st
Wind, wind, wind, all I can say is, I hate wind. It started Jan. 30th and did not stop till Feb. 1st. We just stayed at camp and read Jan. 31st. Yesterday we took a drive back down the Box Canyon Rd. Just as the road comes into the valley, there is the Painters Canyon Rd. They warn you that it is a 4X4 road, maybe at some time of the year but not now. Any car could make it. A dusty drive along the base of the mountain, then you head up into the canyon. There is a slot canyon at the trailhead. Little over five mile hike around the loop. It is called the Ladder Canyon Trail because there are ladders to climb up and down on the trail. When we were a little younger, we might have considered it. The canyon itself is very scenic, so all was not lost.
The beginning of the Canyon.
At the trailhead.
Looking into Ladder Canyon TrailSome random shots in the canyon. There is a hole in the rock below.
Feb. 2nd. Our time here is about done, we will be heading east, thinking of trying out Red Earth Casino, near Salton City. They have some RV parking and a sani dump.
Mostly clear skies and wind. Cool at night, around 8C or so. Highs have been around 15, yesterday we saw 20C, nice but we had a cool breeze.
