Ajo Feb. 9th

It's about a three and a half hour drive from Yuma to Ajo and the BLM that we wanted to stay in. We found a nice spot and settled down. Ajo is known as the birth place of copper mining in Arizona. There is an open pit and huge tailing mounds. We drove through town and turned onto Darby Wells Rd. If you carry on, that road does a loop and goes back to the beginning of Ajo, a nice scenic drive. We spotted Ray's rig from Love Your RV parked about a couple of miles from our location. Only the second  Utuber we have noticed on our travels. It was very pretty and quiet, a bit dusty though, neighbours no closer than a hundred meters. For the most part the weather was nice but a cool breeze, so we did not spend too much time outside.

The view from our window.

This is what the inside of a Saguaro looks like.

Next, we took a drive down to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. We had driven both loops last time we were down but it is so scenic, we drove it again. I did not take a lot of pictures, as I already have a lot from last time but here are a couple.

Ocotillo are strange, they look dead until they get some water, then they sprout leaves and very pretty red flowers. Many people think Ocotillo is a cactus but it is actually a shrub.

Trump's wall, you have to drive along the border to get back to the hwy from the western loop.
Yesterday Feb. 13th it rained, starting early morning and lasting most of the day, off and on.

Today we have lots of wind again, time to fill dump and do laundry. We are at Belly Acres RV for a couple of nights, not the best place we have been but it will work for what we need. We think we will try a BLM down by Why next.

Down to six at night and it might get up to 14C this afternoon.
