Santa Rosa Jan 5th

It poured rain all night, thankfully it lightened up when it came time to hookup. The water was at least two inches deep at the back of the trailer. Good thing my shoes are waterproof, I had to do a bit of wading. The amount of water along our route was amazing, yup, time to get out of there. The winds had calmed down some, so we did not get blown off the road, although they were telling everyone to stay home. We had ours with us, so I guess we were following the rules. Not knowing how long it would take us to get out of the Bay area we had talked about stopping half way to Bakersfield. At the half way point we decided to carry on to the Orange Grove RV Park. It was about a seven hour drive, in not so nice conditions but we were glad to be away from most of the bad weather. We have been told by a few people that the Orange Grove RV Park was very nice and it is. It is an old orange orchard, with many trees between the RV sites. The oranges a free to take, Pat tried one and said they were good, so we picked a few for our trip.

This campground has the very best after hours registration we have seen. The sites that are available are pinned to a board, in an envelope with the site number on it along with information about which size/kind of rig it would be appropriate for and in the envelope was a map on how to get to the site. You could drop the money off or pay in the morning. No driving around looking for an open site, just pick one off the board and go. It also had the site length marked on the envelope. A very nice system.

Next morning, off to Red Rock Canyon St PK.
