Santa Rosa Jan. 4th

Our last day at Harris Beach, we took a drive around the country side. Lots of farming and parks.

A few of these Egrets.
Momma dear had two babies.
Next day we headed for Richardson Grove St. Pk. Pulled in to find a very old park, small sites and no one else there. As there were no sites that we could fit in, we gave up that idea and headed down the road. Just around the corner was Richardson RV Pk. a nice lady came out and asked us if we had any RV memberships, we said only Passport America. She gave us the site at the PA half price even though they were no longer affiliated. Nice. Conveniently, there was a fuel station out front that was easy to get into, after I got around the fuel truck.

Then we were off to Santa Rosa. We set the GPS for the fairgrounds and it takes us to the admin buildings. Nothing like driving around with the trailer on narrow, car lined streets. Finding a place to pull over I checked on my Ipad and found the actual RV grounds a couple of miles away. The Sonoma Fairgrounds are a Passport America campsite which is the only reason we came here (we had been here a few years ago). The sites are full hookup but only room for the truck and trailer.  But we got settled in and hunkered down for the night. This morning the wind was howling and it was pouring. The forecast was for more high winds throughout the day so we decided to stay another day; the wind is supposed to be lighter tomorrow. That gave us a chance to get a few things, propane and fuel up again. As the weather has not been very warm, we have been going through the propane. It is a little better the last few days as the temperature has warmed up to around 14C. It is pouring again right now, they do need the rain but we could have stayed home for that. We were thinking of going down to see the Monarch butterflies at Pismo Beach as they are making a comeback but with this wind and rain I think we will make a dash for the desert tomorrow.
