Needles Jan 9th
The drive from Red Rock Canyon is about three hours, just about right, these days I like the shorted travel times. It has taken a long time to learn to slow down and take our time. As there is not much for shopping around Red Rock, we needed some supplies. We headed down to Lake Havasu to check out our spot for the balloon festival and stop at Walmart. The balloons will be at the State Park, so we drove up to the gate and asked if we could go in and check out where we were going to park. Sure but it would cost us $15.00 to enter the grounds. No thanks, we will figure it out when the time comes.
Nice to see the sun and Palm trees.
Fuel in California is around $6.99 a gallon, I paid $4.339 in Arizona. Not sure why people go to the stations here, as cheaper fuel is just across the river.
Next day, Jan 11th. we drove up to Oatman, home of the wild Burrows. Cute touristy little town, was a beautiful day to walk around and check everything out. One of the shop keepers gave Pat a bag of Burrow food. Most of them charge a dollar a bag.
They are fun to watch, the shop keepers have to keep kicking them out of their stores.
As you walk around, you have to hid anything that is in a paper bag, the Burrows will steal it, thinking it is their food. One lady had just come out of a store and a Burrow stole her licorice, ate the bag and all. Stay at least four feet away from the hind end, they are wild and will kick. We did not see that happen though. We continued on Route 66 to Kingman. It is hard to believe that this was a major route, could not have been many or any big trucks on this road. Fun to drive without the trailer. Carried on to Bullhead City and had lunch at Black Bear Dinner, Yum.
Our campsite is on the Colorado River, it is about a fifty meters from us. Not too bad of a campground, made better by being a Passport America, half price yay.
On Hwy 14 from Red Rock to Hwy 58 there are hundreds of acres of solar panels.
The other side of the road is the same. Amazing.
Off to Quartszite now.

Very Jealous! Really enjoyed the desert!
