Bullard Bay Dec. 28th

Image
Bullards Beach is another very nice state park but they are a little expensive $88.00 US for two nights (they add $5 to each night for non-residents in Oregon). We decided to stay two nights and explore around here. I took these on the way down from Beverly Beach. There is an old lighthouse just down the road from us, so we naturally had to go see it. It does need a paint job. You can see the new lighthouse on the other side of the river. New light house to the right in photo below. We then took a drive to Seven Devils, not a road for RV's, glad I did not meet anyone coming the other way in some stretches, very tight and windy. PS, I was not towing. We checked out old town Bandon, not much there unless you like shopping. Lots of trinkets, candy and fudge.  We had hoped to stay at Harris Beach down by Brookings but when we looked a couple of weeks ago, there was nothing available. Just by chance, I decided to look again, low and behold, one site open, it is ours now. Someone must ha...

Beverly Beach Dec. 28th

Turkey was on the menu for Xmas dinner, we had to time getting it carefully, as we had no place to keep one frozen. On the Wed. before Xmas we went looking for one, thinking we could defrost it slow enough to be ready for the 25th. Sure enough, on the morning of the 25th it was perfectly thawed. After making the stuffing, it was now time to stuff the bird, I cut off the plastic wrapping and what the heck. It was already cooked, none of us had ever seen such a thing. Oh well, back in the fridge for a couple of hours, then cook it slow for about three hours. Believe it or not it was very tasty, who knew. This is Ilwaco's Xmas tree, all crab traps, a huge crabbing village. Various beaches around Cape Disappointment. The past few days have been very stormy, lots of wind and rain. I can't say the drive down to Beverly Beach was white knuckle, but you always wonder at what point the wind is strong to tip the trailer over. A couple of photos of the water along the way. The water on t...

Christmas 2022

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you are all doing well. We are sitting down by the spit, watching huge waves crash onto the shore. I will post pictures when I have better cell service. We have two bars of cell here, so hence the message.  We had a great Xmas morning with Ryan and fam. Quinn was fun to watch as she opened her presents.  Pat and I got each other as usual💗   My favourite. There was a big ice storm here on Thursday, the Astoria bridge was shut down. We heard there was multiple accidents and trees down. There were no delivery trucks that day or next. The weather has now warmed up, 8 to 10 deg. C, with a light drizzle.  Off to sit around the fire and cook turkey latter. We move on the 27th, if good cell I will add some photos.

After staying in Seaquest St Pk. for two nights, we got caught up on food etc. Then off too Cape Disappointment St. Pk. Sun the first night here. Just been hanging out with Ryan and family, we have managed to have a couple of campfires. Pouring rain today, so we took a drive to Tillamook, now are stocked up with cheese. I am sitting in the truck, with the rain coming down, while Pat is in Fred Meyers. Slow cell, but at least there is some. Pat made this Xmas tree and I made the ornaments. We are now set for Xmas. I will try to update before Xmas.

Warmer Weather please

This is our latest blog about our quest for warmer weather. We will be leaving here Dec. 13th and staying the night on the mainland. We will then get an early start to our trip south. After spending a couple of nights somewhere in Washington, we will arrive at Cape Disappointment St Park. We will be there with Ryan, Lam and Quinn till Boxing Day, then off down the Oregon coast. They will be returning home. We are looking forward to meeting up with old friends and taking in the Lk. Havasu Hot Air Balloon Festival. Other than that we have no specific plans, just nice warm spots in the desert. As always, I will post when I can, lots of places we stay have no cell service.
